Grants Awarded to Help Make Our Community a Better Place to Live...

The Vandalia-Butler Township community is always evolving.  And with that  evolution, citizens' needs change over time.  Finding resources for endowment  and then responding to those needs today and in the future are the challenges of the Vandalia-Butler Foundation's Board of Trustees.

Discretionary Grant Awards

The following discretionary grants, totaling $3,150 were awarded in 2007 at the discretion of the Board of Trustees for the benefit of our community:

St. Christopher Church, $500 in appreciation for the use of the facilities for the summer 2007 Dayton Philharmonic Band Concert.

Stillwater United Methodist Church, $200 to support the Stillwater Performing Arts Camp (SPARC).

Stillwater Seventh Day Adventist Church, $2,000 – to support the Group Workcamp Foundation/Crossroads Mission

Vandalia Butler High School After Prom, $450 to support the 2007 After Prom Activities.

Grant Making Guidelines

The Vandalia-Butler Foundation welcomes grant requests from organizations that benefit citizens in the Vandalia-Butler community.  To be eligible for a grant, an organization must be recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, be nondiscriminatory, and address needs that are not met fully by existing organizational or community resources.

Some donors to the Foundation have chosen to give the Vandalia-Butler Foundation Board of Trustees discretion to decide who will receive grants from their funds.  These grants are called discretionary grants.

Generally, the Foundation makes grants to help launch new projects not addressed by existing organizations or to support special efforts of already established non-profit organizations.  A proposal needs to represent a unique and unduplicated opportunity that will affect a substantial number of people.
